Arborist
Career Overview
Arborists are responsible for planting, maintaining, and diagnosing trees and other woody plants. Arborists assess the condition of trees, provide a diagnosis for potential diseases, and offer their recommendations on how to properly care and maintain the plants. Arborists may provide services such as tree pruning and trimming, drought mitigation, fertilization, insect and disease control, as well as layout seasonal tree care.
Other job titles include: arboriculturalist, tree surgeon, tree specialist
Education and Training
These occupations usually require a high school diploma and some may require a bachelor’s degree. Some employers may prefer to hire arborists who have completed the arborist certification program (ACP).
