Our Nursery division and Reforestation Center offers qualified candidates an opportunity to become part of a collaborative team that manages our state-of-the-art seed center and conifer nursery. Work alongside professionals at our technologically advanced and innovative Reforestation Center in the beautiful Shasta Valley of Northern California. Recognizing this being a team-oriented and hands-on position, living in the general Siskiyou County area is essential.
Resources will be made available for onsite training as well as continuing professional development for this position.
About The Position
• Conifer seed processing, cleaning, testing, stratification, germination, and storage
• Assist with and perform activities related to seed processing including extraction, drying, and separation
• Assist with critical timing associated with stratification
• Perform seed lab functions including determining seed viability, moisture content, purity, seed per pound calculations, germination percent, and long-term storage needs
• Attend appropriate trainings and workshops to enhance knowledge specific to seed
Qualifications
• 1 year of recent, related, and verifiable work experience
• Post-secondary education in botany, horticulture, biology, or forestry preferred
• Demonstrated ability to thrive in a constantly changing work environment
• Highly organized and adaptable with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
• Proven ability to problem-solve a broad array of scientific challenges
