Urban Forestry Coordinator

Job Description: 

The City of Mobile is seeking a full-time Urban Forestry Coordinator. An employee in this role is responsible for conducting landscape and development plan reviews, performing tree condition assessments, inventorying trees on city property, coordinating tree removals with the Tree Commission, planning and directing planting projects and disease and insect control programs, and inspecting and enforcing state and local tree related laws and ordinances.

Skill Requirements: 

• Attainment of a minimum of a bachelor's degree from a recognized college or university in Forestry or a closely related field, and preferably one year experience in urban forestry; or a combination of education and experience equivalent to these requirements. 
• Must possess a valid driver’s license from state of residence. 
• Must obtain Arborist certification by the International Society of Arboriculture within the first year of employment.
