Large Saw Filer

Smith Sawmill Service is a multi-state manufacturing company that provides services and products that are designed around the ever-changing sawmills, chip mills, paper mills, and pallet manufactures. We are one of the largest saw manufacturing facilities in the country and an exciting place to grow your career.

We are currently looking for a fulltime, motivated Large Saw Filer to join our team in our Shreveport, LA., facility.

The ideal candidate is an experienced self-starter who enjoys working in a collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• Preparing large saws for proper level, tension, sharpness, and all other specifications.
• Ensure all guides are maintained at proper tolerances.
• Preparing saw teeth and replacing broken and missing teeth.
• Inspect saws by taking and recording measurements.
• Keep general area clean and free of debris and spills.
• Complies with good manufacturing practices.
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve operating difficulties.
• Assists other teams when needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

• Three years Saw Filer experience preferred.
• Mechanically inclined.
• Basic understanding of planned/preventive maintenance.
• Produce quality work product and capacity to adapt to and learn new technology.
• Knowledge of good manufacturing practices.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Able to lift up to 50lbs.
• Drug-testing required for employment.
