Schedule: 5:00 AM - 3:00 PM Monday-Friday

Job Overview: Thompson Appalachian Hardwoods is seeking a dedicated and skilled Bandmill Saw Filer to join our team at our sawmill in Huntland, TN. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and filing the bandmill saw blades to ensure optimal performance in the milling of hardwoods. This role requires an understanding of sawmill operations and a commitment to safety and quality.

Key Responsibilities:

• File, maintain, and repair bandmill saw blades to ensure smooth, efficient operation.
• Monitor the condition of saw blades and other related equipment, making adjustments or repairs as necessary.
• Inspect blades for wear, cracks, and damage; ensure proper tension and alignment.
• Maintain and organize a clean and safe work area.
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to the sawmill band blades and related machinery.
• Perform routine maintenance on equipment and suggest improvements to increase efficiency.
• Assist with other tasks as needed in the sawmill operation.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience as a Saw Filer is required.
• Basic mechanical skills and knowledge of sawmill machinery.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify issues quickly.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Good physical condition and ability to lift heavy equipment and perform manual labor.
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training is a plus.

Preferred Skills:

• Familiarity with the operation and maintenance of other sawmill equipment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to maintenance.
