In celebration of Read Across America Week, the Andalusia Public Library hosted a special event that celebrated reading, sustainability, and the importance of forestry education for young minds. The heartwarming event was made possible by a generous donation from Scott and Patricia Vick Moody, whose family have been longtime supporters of both the forest industry and the library. Their gift also included books from the beloved Tiny Timber Crew series, which introduces children to the importance of sustainable forest management.
Children enjoyed themed activities inspired by the adventures of Lucy and the Tiny Timber Crew. From crafts to an engaging read-aloud session, the event encouraged kids to explore the natural world and learn how forests are managed for both environmental health and everyday needs.
Many thanks to Scott and Patricia Vick Moody, and their commitment to forestry education and the community. This wonderful event brought meaningful lessons to life in a fun and engaging way. Their support of the Tiny Timber Crew® and library reinforces the significance of teaching the next generation about the many roles forests play in our communities and our environment.
Books from the Tiny Timber Crew series, including Lucy Meets a Logger, Travis Visits a Tree Farm, and Sam Visits a Sawmill, are now available at the Andalusia Public Library. Families are encouraged to check out the books and explore the forest industry through the eyes of the Tiny Timber Crew. Supplemental activities and more information can be found at tinytimbercrew.com.
