From the hospital to her hometown, see how Jordan found herself in the forest industry and what that means to her.
Jordan grew up around the sawmill but had never really seen herself coming back to the family business up until a few years ago. She graduated from Auburn in 2013 with a B.A. in Psychology and after working for almost 8 years in a hospital, she says "The Lord led me back to work with the family here at our sawmill in Decatur, AL."
Last year, Jordan started working in the bookkeeping department doing payroll for the company, She also helps out with the wholesale lumber accounts, manages their fleet of 18 wheelers, and helps run the building supply and hardware store as well.
"Every day looks different. I'll help stamp lumber in our planer mill one day and go to Birmingham to pick up a part the next. My favorite thing has probably been getting to be a part of and learning about an industry that has such a huge impact on my community and really, the entire world." She says.
When asked about what it means to her to be a part of the forest industry Jordan told us that "Being a small part of the forest industry in Alabama, you begin to realize how important it is not only for our state but on a global scale as well. It is neat to see our lumber being shipped all over the globe and think that you had a part in a process that is providing lumber for structures on the other side of the world."
