It's electrifying! See how Jordan is using her electrical knowledge to further her career in the manufacturing sector of the forest industry.

Meet Jordan Hill. A 26 year old electrician at West Fraser Mills. Her main area of work is in the planer mill implementing routine maintenance on the machinery. She works very closely with the machine operators to observe the process and make sure the machines are running smoothly and efficiently.

Jordan attended Southern Union State Community College and obtained an Associate of Applied Science in Advanced Manufacturing with a Concentration in Mechatronics. The staff at SUSCC and this program helped prepare and steer him to become an electrician.

Some of her favorite things about working at the mill are the people. She said "I get to work with the best people and also the incredible safety culture within the mill is huge! Our management and coworkers would never make us do something we felt was not safe for us."

Jordan would recommend this type of job to any young person looking for a career. The pay and benefits are great, and there is a lot of room to grow within the mill. She told us that "as you develop in the company and complete additional training you receive higher better pay and more responsibilities."
