Office life not for you? Consider a career in forestry like Avery did.

Meet Avery Kidd, a 22 year old Forestry Technician with Scotch Land Management, LLC.

Avery chose this job because he loves being outdoors, His job duties vary from day to day based on what type of work needs to be done. Whether it's marking timber to be harvested, working with logging crews, or conducting prescribed burning to clean up debris on the ground so it is easier to plant after harvesting.

His favorite part of the job is the site-prep for prescribed burning. Burning not only cleans up the ground so it's easier to plant, but it also helps prevent wildfires and makes the property easier to manage. Avery says that "Watching a burn is fun, especially seeing the before and after!"

We asked Avery what he would tell someone interested in a forestry technician career and he said "I'm 22 and making more money than some of my friends, and I don't have any student debt. So I would tell anyone who is interested in being a Forestry Tech to give it a try because if you're like me, you'll love it!"
