Industrial Diesel Mechanic/Technician
Position Summary: Inspects, repairs and overhauls Fork Trucks, Loaders, Bobcats, Trucks, Welding Machines and anything else with a diesel engine.

Follow a checklist of inspection procedures
Test drive vehicles to diagnose malfunctions
Read and interpret diagnostic test results from diagnostic equipment such as a multimeter, which is used to measure the voltage produced by electronic components. Also use specialty computer technology as provided
Raise trucks, fork tucks and heavy parts or equipment by using hydraulic jacks or hoists
Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, transmissions, engines and other parts of vehicles
Do routine maintenance such as hanging oil and filters, checking batteries and lubricating equipment and parts
Adjust and align wheels, tighten bolts and screws and attach system components
Repair or replace malfunctioning components, parts and other mechanical or electrical equipment including tires, cylinders, valves, etc.
Test drive vehicles to ensure that they run smoothly and safely
May work on vehicle’s electrical system, make major engine repairs or retrofit exhaust systems with emissions control system to comply with pollution regulations to include bulldozers and cranes as well as the above mentioned vehicles
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Education/Experience and Skills
5 to 10 years of previous experience as a Diesel Technician
Good knowledge of lumber products a plus
Ability to model the Rex Lumber values and to provide innovative solutions
Ability to deliver high quality, detailed error free work on a consistent basis
Ability to read, write, speak and understand English to the extent required to receive and communicate information as necessary to the position

Must be able to lift, carry push or pull 50 plus pounds during your shift
Must be able to stoop kneel or crouch during the workday
Must be able to sit and walk or otherwise move around for prolonged periods of time throughout the workday
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee can be exposed to fumes, moving mechanical parts and vibrations. Work is performed outdoors and employee is exposed to a variety of extreme weather conditions at the mill. The noise level in the work environment can be loud
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to work a 12-hour shift.
Must be able to work overtime.
Perform tasks such as walking, climbing, or standing for long periods of time.
Able to bend, stoop, stretch, twist, or reach with body, arms, and/or legs.
Ability to exert muscle force repeatedly or continuously over time.
Ability to work outside in all conditions.
Must be comfortable working around loud equipment.
Able to work while in a harness at heights over 4 feet.
Able to lift 50 lbs. throughout work shift.
SAFETY
Follow all area/machine center specific safety regulations.
Wear all the required personal protective equipment, i.e., hardhat, safety glasses, hearing protection, and reflective wear.
Report immediately to your supervisor or any available supervisor any piece of equipment that is unsafe or functioning improperly to eliminate unsafe conditions.
Do not enter restricted areas.
Request assistance when a task exceeds individual knowledge.
Visually inspect equipment and area before starting/operating.
Use Standard Lockout Procedures when appropriate for machine centers.
Use proper lifting technique by pushing, pulling, and lifting with your legs and not your back.
Never approach a saw while it is still running.
Follow all other safety regulations as set forth by the company.
