Job Description:


Shuqualak Lumber Co Inc is seeking a dedicated and skilled Automation Controls Engineer to join our team. This role is critical to maintaining and improving our electrical systems and process controls to ensure optimal mill operations. Reporting to the Maintenance and Production Superintendent, the successful candidate will provide technical expertise in machine automation and electrical systems, driving continuous improvements.


Key Responsibilities:



Assemble and test experimental motor control devices, switch panels, transformers, generator windings, solenoids, and other electrical equipment and components.

Diagnose the cause of electrical or mechanical malfunctions or failures in operational equipment and perform preventive and corrective maintenance.

Troubleshoot and maintain three (3) phase electrical systems, as well as PLC systems on a daily basis.

Develop data acquisition and reporting systems.

Ensure compliance with all safety policies and procedures.

Continuously improve operations by streamlining work processes and collaborating with production departments.

Stay current with national code standards and other regulatory requirements.

Upgrade and tune control systems to enhance equipment performance.

Provide quality seamless customer service.


Requirements:



Education:
High school diploma or GED is required; Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field is preferred.

Experience:
3-5 years of Industrial Electrician or Maintenance Technician experience with a strong background in PLCs.

Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.

Proven track record in electrical equipment troubleshooting, repair, and installation.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Experience in PLC and HMI programming.
