Career Overview
Chemical engineers are responsible for designing and developing chemical processes and equipment that can transform raw materials into useful products. Additionally, they oversee the operation and maintenance of industrial chemical plants. In the forest products industry, chemical engineers are employed in pulp and paper mills. As a chemical engineer in a pulp and paper mill, you will closely collaborate with technical and operations personnel to monitor and optimize processes. You may also be tasked with coordinating projects and trials to enhance production, improve quality, and lower costs.
