GENERAL SUMMARY

The Utility Operator works under the direction of the Operations Manager and cooperates with the Control Room Operators and Plant Equipment Operators. The Utility Operator runs heavy equipment to provide fuel to the plant as well as assisting with maintenance of the facility. The Utility Operator maintains a high standard of safety to ensure coworkers and equipment are protected from injury. The Utility Operator will participate in the company training program. Terms & conditions of employment are governed by the existing Collective Bargaining Agreement between Burney Power Operations, LLC and IBEW local 340. Starting wage determined by the CBA.

JOB FUNCTIONS

1. Operate, start, and shut down all equipment in the areas assigned such as water treatment systems, and chemical equipment.

2. Fuel unloading and handling

3. Operate heavy equipment including front-end loaders, chip dozer, forklifts and other related equipment.

4. Keeps all equipment wiped down

5. Maintain high standards of safety – this includes keeping floors and surrounding areas clean/clear.

6. Perform other work as directed.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Position requires extended working hours and varied shifts including weekends and holidays. “On call” status will be periodically required.

All employees will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program which includes a post-offer physical examination and drug screening. There are extensive smoking restrictions in and around the facility.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

1. High school diploma or equivalent experience.

2. Must have a valid driver's license.

3. Must be able to lift and carry up to & including 75 pounds, engage in extensive walking, stooping, standing, reaching and climbing.

4. Must be able to work at heights using ladders and scaffolding.

5. Must be able and willing to wear personal protective equipment as needed.

6. Must have the ability to work in hot or cold environments.

7. Must have the ability to work in confined spaces.

8. Pass the company's Fitness for Duty testing, including drug screening.

DESIRED SKILLS

1. One year operating heavy equipment

2. Be familiar with the operating characteristics of power plant and substation equipment such as electrical and mechanical tagging rules, switching rules, and operating rules.

3. The ability to understand procedures and instructions specific to the area of assignment.
