JOB SUMMARY:
The Plant Equipment Operator (PEO) is responsible for monitoring the status of all plant systems on a continuous basis. The PEO responds to alarms by taking appropriate corrective actions and executes plant shutdown and start-up procedures as required. The PEO assures that the plant meets its generating requirements while operating in a safe and efficient manner.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Report upset conditions or other anomalies in plant status to the Operations Manager or Lead Operator.
2. Make entries in the Operating Log and approve and issue Tag outs as required.
3. Receive and respond to electrical, steam and fuel dispatcher's orders and requests.
4. Operate control panels to regulate the load on the HRSG and turbines and to maintain proper steam temperature and pressure, feedwater and fuel supply and efficient combustion conditions.
5. Perform emergency operations to maintain electric service and safeguard station equipment.
6. Provide direction to Utility Operators to effect changes in plant conditions and chemistry.
7. Complete other tasks as requested by the Operations Manager.
8. Work shift hours, overtime and irregular hours as requested.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Must have high school diploma or equivalent experience.
2. Minimum two years' experience as a Utility Operator or equivalent position in an operating or generating plant required.
3. Associate degree in a technical field desirable.
4. Must successfully complete the PEO qualification card.
5. Must successfully complete a Mechanical Aptitude test and a Basic Mathematical test.
6. Must have valid driver’s license.
7. Must be able to perform physical requirements which include reaching, heavy lifting up to 50 pounds, walking, stooping, standing and climbing
8. Must work extended working hours and varied shifts with the possibility of weekend and holiday work, as required by schedules, workload and plant conditions. "On call" status will periodically be required.
9. Must pass the company’s Fitness for Duty Program, which includes a post-offer physical examination, hearing and vision tests and drug screen.
