Forest Worker Certificate Program

How to Offer to Students

In order for an Alabama educator to offer this certificate to their students as an approved credential, the educator must attend one of our workshops.

All students must pass the Forest Worker exam to earn the Forest Worker Credential. This exam can be accessed by teachers through the online exam request form. Contact David Benefield for more information.

Overview

The Forest Worker Certificate Program was developed to prepare future workers for employment in one of the South’s largest industries. Employment opportunities vary greatly and include jobs in logging, forest management, timber procurement, sawmills, plywood mills, pulp and paper mills and a wide variety of companies that provide goods and services to the forest industry.

This curriculum has been developed specifically for application across the South. Although many examples from Alabama are used, similar forests, management techniques, harvesting operations and mill operations are found in Alabama.
