Description

Frontier Resource Management is a Ukiah based forestry consulting business with a focus on timber harvest plans, fuels

reduction projects, botany surveys, timber inventory, and various other forest management plans. Most projects are based

in Mendocino, Lake, Sonoma, and Napa Counties. The ideal candidate currently possesses or will have their RPF License

within two years.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Timber harvest plan writing & layout

• Timber marking

• Draft forest management & oak woodland restoration plans

• Forest inventory and cruising

• Harvest plan document preparation, including: THPs, NTMPs, NTOs, and exemptions

• Timber harvest administration

• Supervise Forestry Technician(s)

• Manage hazard tree projects

• CalVTP and CEQA exemption project development

• Application and administration of California Forest Improvement Program and North Bay Forest Improvement

program grant projects

• Professional map creation and geodatabase management

Required Qualifications

• B.S. in Forestry or closely related field

• THP writing & layout experience

• Timber harvest administration experience

• Northern California tree species identification

• Experience using a compass, diameter tape, prism, cruisers crutch, and other forestry measurement tools

• Proficient with Avenza, Fieldmaps, and Arcpro

• Timber inventory experience

• Ability to work independently or collaboratively while navigating rugged terrain under adverse weather conditions

• Must be self-motivated with excellent organizational skills and a positive attitude

• Ability to safely operate truck and ATV

• Possession of a valid driver’s license and clean driving record

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Proficient with Microsoft Word & Excel

• Skills in map reading and orienteering

Desired Experience, Qualifications & Skills

• RPF License

• Crew lead experience

• Experience preparing a project specific analysis of the states CalVTP PEIR

• Experience conducting botany surveys

• Wildfire fuels management and mitigation experience

Work Conditions

This position requires both field and office work. Field work involves hiking through remote mountainous terrain in wet,

slippery, uneven, brushy, steep, unstable conditions. Exposure to noise, dust, wildlife, poison oak, and all types of weather

conditions are possible. This position requires sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in a field environment and

frequently hike, reach, stoop, kneel, crawl, twist, and grasp.
